Darrio single and open for love
Following a split from his partner last November, dancehall artiste Darrio is officially back on the market. However, while he is open to love, he isn't actively searching for it.
"Me naa look fi love enuh, love affi find you. But mi open fi love," he shared.
Known for his sultry lyrics and compelling performances, Darrio believes authenticity is key when it comes to relationships.
"My thing is, mi just love a girl weh real and be herself. Then me will try to adapt to that, and if me cya manage, me just tell har me cya manage. But mi nuh waa she change fi suit me because that a hard work fi she, and mi nuh know if she can go keep up wid dat. So it's better she be herself, and me will try fi see if me can adapt to that," he explained.
The Fed Up and Ungrateful singer spoke with THE STAR at last Saturday's Essence of Reggae Music Festival at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew. While he remained tight-lipped about the details of his break-up, he was clear that love isn't his focus at the moment. Instead, Darrio is keeping busy and making the most of his time. Reflecting on 2024, he shared an important lesson.
"Time is very precious, and time can go by so fast, so right now, we just treat every day as it comes and make the most out of every day."
That philosophy is already shaping 2025 into a big year for the entertainer. With new singles, visuals, and an unexpected collaboration already recorded and mixed, fans can expect exciting releases soon.
"It actually voice and mix already, but me jus a wait pon di green light from his [the collaborator's] company, and then we can start advertising," he revealed.
Meanwhile, Darrio is gearing up to hit the road in 2025.
"Everybody and anybody weh know Darrio, know say he's always on the road, so me definitely a go tour in Europe inna April. I think I start from late March though, because Ramadan is in March, and they support the music on that side. So we tour the last part of March and go straight into April. We have Europe and we have Canada negotiating right now. But separate and apart from that, a just the studio me ina right now a put in some bagga work," he said.
