Bail extended for Chinese man on assault charge

A Chinese national accused of assaulting his employee had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with assaulting a female is 38-year-old businessman, Sei Yan, of an Amber Way, Kingston 6, address. Yan pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Allegations are that, on August 8, approximately 8:10 p.m., the female complainant, who is employed to Yan's Kingston 6 Japanese restaurant, was at a refrigerator inside the establishment having a drink of water. It is said the accused man reportedly approached the complainant and used his hand to hit her in the back of her neck, causing pain.

The reason for the alleged assault remains unknown. In court, the accused had his bail extended by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey until February 5, 2016, for trial.
