Man remanded for attemtpted murder

A 49-year-old man on an attempted murder charge was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Enos Smith is charged with attempted murder for a September 10, 2011 incident.

Allegations are that Smith contacted his ex-girlfriend, around 8 p.m., on the day of the incident and asking her to meet him in Papine Square.

The accused and the complainant reportedly met and were walking along Rocky Road when a piece of wire was wrapped tightly around her neck, and she was beaten all over her body.

Smith allegedly dumped the complainant's unconscious body in nearby bushes and fled. He was arrested and charged on October 9, 2015.

The matter returns to court on November 24.
