We need a stop sign - Residents plead to authorities following fatal crash

Residents of Grove Road in Kingston 19 are calling on the authorities to replace the stop sign at the intersection of Grove Road and Crescent Road in their community after a 24-year-old man was killed in a car accident after he disobeyed the 'imaginary' sign.

According the residents, Corey Davidson was driving across the intersection at high speed when his vehicle collided with a Mitsubishi Pajero and ran into a fence, tilting to one side.

Bystander Vivian Simpson said the Davidson's body was hanging from the vehicle before it fell on him, crushing him completely.

"It crushed him before we could lift it off him," Simpson told THE STAR.

Another resident, Nadine Durant, said it seems Davidson wasn't wearing his seat belt.

Simpson said that since the stop sign was removed, drivers have continuously ran across the intersection without stopping.

"A lot of the drivers dem using the community and not negotiating the intersection properly," Simpson said.

Taneisha Webb, who has two children living in the community, is calling on the authorities to replace the stop sign as she believes it might cause drivers to be more cautious.

"We need the stop sign because probably if it was there then him would see that him need to slow down," Webb said. "I have children in the community and they run on the road all the time, so they (authorities) need to act urgently," she said.
