Scores of dog enthusiasts flocked Caymanas Park in St Catherine on Sunday for the latest staging of the Portmore Bully Mania Dog Show and Family Expo.

The occasion saw some of 'man's best friends' take commands from their handlers while going through various obedience drills and exhibitions. A wide array of dogs, such as Doberman, pit bull and poodles, were out on display. The canines competed in varying competitions such as the best working-class dog and the best dressed mongrel contest.

There were loud cheers of approval as several dogs paraded at the behest of the handlers. American Bully Kennel Club judge Brian Perterson said he was pleased with the turnout.

"It is better attended this year in comparison to last year, and I am very pleased to see how appreciative the crowd is about the show," said Peterson.

Promoter of the event, Morris Goode, said the show continues to grow and that is encouraging.

"When we started as the Portmore Dog Show, I honestly didn't believe that it would have become a calendar event," Goode said. "It is a bigger show this year as there are more sponsors, and we are thankful for that."
