D’Angel ‘a traditional Christmas girl’

D'Angel is one entertainer who fully endorses the song which says that Christmas is the best time of the year.

And she always brings out her A-game for the festive season, whether it is her special barbecue chicken which she whips up only for Christmas, or wrapping the care packages for her annual give-back through her foundation. The dancehall diva is big on family, and pauses everything to ensure that her relatives are pampered and made to feel extra special during the season.

In between rehearsals for Sting, which takes place the day after Christmas, D'Angel will be running around like one of Santa's elves, preparing for the big day.

1. What are some of the cherished Christmas traditions that you look forward to each year with your family?

My most cherished Christmas tradition would definitely be my mommy's cooking and sorrel, also gathering with the family and telling jokes. One more thing I must add ... everyone always look forward for my barbecue chicken that I only do once a year for Christmas dinner.

2. Can you share a memorable or favourite Christmas moment from your past that stands out for you.

What I would say stands out most from my past Christmas memories is how my mom used to dress up me and my siblings.... first we would start by going to church, then Christmas party at the Spanish Town park. That to me is one of the most memorable things that we always talk about.

3. Do you have a Christmas song, movie or dish that holds a special place in your heart?

One of my favourite Christmas songs would be Mariah Carey's Holy Night and the dish would be my mom's pot roast beef. I'm a traditional Christmas girl.

4. Did you believe in Santa Claus as a child?

Yes, I believed in Santa Claus as a child for sure until mi start have sense ... lol ... but Christmas is a very special time of the year so from childhood until now I've always been excited.

4. You always give back at Christmas. What charitable cause are you supporting this year?

I'm definitely doing my annual Christmas care packages through Angel's Foundation for the elderly and children. I did approximately 500 last year and this year I'm looking to do 1,000 by the help of God, the fans, and a few sponsors who have given me their word to partner with me this year.

5. What is the best Christmas gift you have ever received?

My best Christmas gift I would say is my son Marco-Dean. He came in this world on November 9, a little more than a month before Christmas. So it was so much joy celebrating life and motherhood at the same time.

6. What is the most special thing you have done for your son for Christmas?

My son is not fussy and he always asks for the simplest of things, so just showing him love constantly is always my thing outside of the gifts. I also start allowing him to choose what he wants for Christmas, especially now at his age, because sometimes I may choose something he doesn't want, and of course Christmas is for kids.

7. If you could make one special Christmas wish for the world, what would it be?

If I could make one special wish for the world, it would be to spread a little love and kindness to everyone you meet.
