Skeletal remains believed to belong to ‘Meddik’ found in St Catherine

The skeletal remains of a body, suspected to be that of missing dancehall artiste 'Medikk', were discovered in a cane field in St Catherine on Wednesday. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Fitz Bailey, made the announcement late Thursday evening. 

"The body will be processed and compared with DNA samples to determine its true identity," Bailey said in an audio statement. 

'Medikk', whose real name is Stephanie Williams, was reported missing to the Constant Spring Police on August 24 of last year, after leaving her home that afternoon.  

As a result of the report, the police commenced a missing person and possible murder investigation. Several lines of inquiry were made, several persons interviewed and statements were recorded.

The investigation continues in the matter.
