Red-hot Bygrave sinks Harbour View
Atapharoy Bygrave continued his red-hot goalscoring form in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) last night, netting the lone goal at the Drewsland Mini-Stadium as Waterhouse FC defeated Harbour View FC 1-0.
The victors leapfrogged Cavalier SC (11 points) into third on 12 points. Montego Bay United lead with 13 points, followed by Portmore United on 12, which share identical goal difference but have scored more goals than Waterhouse.
Harbour View and Waterhouse had their fair share of chances over the course of the game. Leonardo Jebbison, Martin Davis and Jaheim Brown had the best chances for the home team, but none of them could beat Romario Palma in goal
Harbour View's also came close with Luca Kung, David Reid and Demar Rose.
Bygrave broke the deadlock after 53 minutes, when Jebbison passed to the big striker in the box. Bygrave beat his marker with his first touch before firing low past Palma.
"Overall, we are pleased with the three points. How we were compact and how we played defensively is also a plus. But we had chances that we could have put away the game," said Waterhouse assistant coach Damion Gordon.
Harbour View coach Jason Henry said they paid the price for wasting opportunities.
"When you are playing against teams like Waterhouse and you get chances, you must find a way to take one," he said. "Against the run of play they got one clear (chance) and that's what hurt us..That's the game of football, sometimes a team just wants one and they got theirs and took it," he said.
The result left Harbour View in eighth place with seven points.
