Pregnant and seeking a job
Dear Pastor,
I am a single mother who is currently unemployed because I am pregnant again.
I am reaching out to the public for assistance. I would be glad to get a job as a handy person, so that I will be able to earn to provide for my child and also prepare for my unborn. Lately, I have been going through depression because I am not able to provide for myself due to my pregnancy and sickness. I don't have anyone to turn to at this time because I do not have any family. I am a good mother to my child and I am hard-working.
So, I would really like to get some assistant at this moment. I would appreciate it.
S.E.
Dear S.E.,
Whenever I read letters written by desperate women, I ask myself, "Where are the fathers of the children?"
You got pregnant by a man. It is true that you should have been more careful and not allowed yourself to become pregnant the second time, but it has happened. Now you are struggling alone. You say you don't have relatives to help you. I believe that you are speaking the truth. I really do, because some relatives are not in the position to help, so they too are struggling. On the other hand, some men don't care. They impregnate woman and then disappear; they cannot be found. Some are not willing to accept paternity even after the child is born. So we publish this letter hoping that someone would be willing to help you, even by giving you work for a couple of days per week.
You did not provide us with a telephone number; that was a big mistake. Sometimes when a person is so depressed, he or she does not think straight. I hope you will see my comments and call my office and provide us with a number, so that we can reach you easily.
If anyone is willing to assist you, we will be in a position to contact you easily.
Pastor
