There will be several doctors in the house on Saturday night at the ultra all-inclusive party on the grounds of the University of the West Indies, but Beenie Man will be the only 'doctor' in performance.

Beenie Man is the main act for Scrubs, a charity showcase staged by the Association of Surgeons in Jamaica (ASJ). DJ Narity and Courtney complete the entertainment package.

For the fourth year running, the group of surgeons have come together to raise funds for the treatment of cancer.

Consultant general surgeon Hugh Anthony Roberts told THE WEEKEND STAR that in their bid to keep the event professional, none of his colleagues who have talent in the performing arts have been advertised on the line-up.

"But I don't know what will happen on Saturday night," he laughed. "We are trying to keep it strictly professional, but I don't know who Beenie Man will call up. He is familiar with the members of the fraternity, and he may make a request of one of them, but that is certainly not planned."

Last year, through the concert, the organisers raised $2 million for their charity, the Jamaica Cancer Society, and those funds were earmarked for prostate cancer. The first two years, the funds were allocated to breast cancer.

"These are the two most common cancers in the male and female populations, that's why these types of cancers are our focus," Dr Roberts told THE WEEKEND STAR.

He shared that several members of the association do active work with the Jamaica Cancer Society and are therefore aware of the needs.

They decided to go the stage show route to raise funds rather than always asking corporate Jamaica for donations.

"But we still get a lot of corporate support for this event. In the first year, we raised $800,000," he said.

Previous performers at Scrubs include Freddie McGregor and Agent Sasco. For the latter, it was extra special as he lost his mother to breast cancer.
