Wesrok recognised for contribution to reggae
On October 27, reggae artiste Wesrok was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the operators of Suga 957 FM WSGD in Fort Myers, Florida.
Earlier that evening, Wesrok had performed at the Suga Reggae Fest and Jerk Competition alongside AJ Brown, Digicel Rising Stars winner Shuga, and Mr Easy, among others.
"They (organisers) thought it best to award some of the performers. It is well-received, and I appreciate it," Wesrok stated. According to the inscription, Wesrok received the certificate in recognition of his "invaluable contribution to the rich and vibrant culture of reggae music".
Wesrok performed at the event for close to 3o minutes, delivering songs including his latest, True Love, a collaboration with gold-selling American reggae band Big Mountain, She Believes in Me, and Born as a Winner.
"My performance in Florida was really good. As always, I try to do my best to please the fans and try to do the songs that I believe that they love. All in all, it was a good performance," Wesrok shared.
Days after performing in Fort Myers, Wesrok went to Mexico with Big Mountain, where they completed the video shoot for True Love. The video was directed by a crew from Mexico headed by noted videographer and director Rico.
Earlier this week, Wesrok hit the recording studio in Nashville to put together the finishing touches to his forthcoming EP, which is due early next year. The artiste is also working on details to commence a tour of India as early as December.
"I am looking forward to touring India ... [there] is a very huge market for reggae music and my type of music," Wesrok said.
