A decade strong - Popcaan honours ‘Where We Come From’ with deluxe release
Superstar entertainer Popcaan has unleashed a celebration of his musical journey with the release of the 10-year deluxe edition of his debut album, Where We Come From.
Originally released in 2014, the Deluxe Edition offers exciting new features, including two previously unreleased tracks - Don't Finesse Me and Beat The Struggle - and an acoustic rendition of the iconic title track.
"I just want to show my appreciation to the almighty God and everyone who's been supporting me and my music all these years," Popcaan said in a statement on social media. "I'm happy that I'm able t vo celebrate the 10 years anniversary of my debut album with you all. It's a lifestyle and a lifetime moment, he added.
Produced by an all-star team that includes Dre Skull, Dubbel Dutch, Jamie Roberts, Anju Blaxx, and Adde Instrumentals, Where We Come From reflects Popcaan's signature melodies with raw, relatable storytelling. Musicologist Wayne Marshall describes it as as a project where struggle and happiness occupy the same space.
"Songs about struggle and sex and happiness occupy the same space because they do. And whatever the topic, Popcaan's infectious positivity comes through," Marshall said.
The16-track album's original hits such as Everything Nice and Love Yuh Bad cemented Popcaan as a trailblazer in dancehall and a global music icon.
"This deluxe edition is a gift to my fans," Popcaan shared in a statement. "It's a way to celebrate how far we've come together and give thanks for the journey."
