Zhayna craves attention

November 25, 2024

When the talented reggae crooner Zhayna crafted her most recent single, Attention, she hoped it would serve as a gentle reminder to males about what most women crave - love.

"The inspiration for this song came from the thought of wanting something that I felt like I was always giving and willing to give to others that I held dear to me, but that it wasn't always reciprocated in the way I really desired it. That [thing] is to be given the sort of attention that would make one feel seen, heard, valued and truly special," Zhayna said. She recently released visuals for the project to rave reviews.

"The response to Attention has been a great one so far. It really surpassed my expectations. I was so happy to see how people liked and shared it," she said. The song was also featured on Urban Xtra Radio in the UK and has been added to the playlists of local radio stations.

Zhayna is a past student of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts where she studied for a degree in jazz and popular music. She is also a former member of the Ashe performing arts group, where she was a lead vocalist. She debuted in November 2020 with her release Runaway, and is best known for the single, Outside. She has solidified a decent following throughout the diaspora with other songs such as I Love The Way and Before Daylight.

She has performed at concerts and festivals all over the US, UK, Europe, the Caribbean and Dubai. She has also appeared on BBC 1xtra's Big Yard sessions in Jamaica.

"I am always working on something new so make sure to stay tuned for more music, more visuals and many more performances," she said.
