Love songs in dancehall are a rare gem, but rising star Peaches Adaba has made a bold statement with her latest release, Sidem.

The song is based on Vybz Kartel and Sidem Ozturk's love story. The dancehall power couple met in 2015 while Kartel was serving time following a murder conviction. Shortly after the court overturned his conviction and released him in Jult, the Fever hitmaker proposed to the British social worker, who he described as his rock.

"I cherish every visit, every phone call, and all the moments we spent talking, laughing, and even crying together. You've been my rock, my best friend, and my companion. I pray we stay together for as long as I live. I love you, baby. Love is beautiful thing," Kartel said.

Peaches Adaba, who felt compelled to capture the relationship in song, said the feedback to Sidem has been "phenomenal so far".

"A lot of fans appreciate the attention to imagery and the storyline of a great modern-day love story," Peaches explained.

A native of St Thomas, Peaches Adaba has been steadily making waves in the industry since her debut single, Guilty Pleasure, three years ago. Known for her fusion of dancehall, reggae, and R&B, the 26-year-old singjay has continued to stand out with hits like De Stress, Bad For You, and Bonnie & Clyde.
