Real Talk: Yanique spills the beans on motherhood, relationships

Welcome back to another exciting week on Real Talk. My guest this week is our STAR of the Month, the Curvy Diva, Yanique Barrett. She answers questions on motherhood, relationships and the Yanique and Usain Bolt dating rumour.

Renee: What kind of mother are you?

Yanique: I'm trying to process it (the question) because I can be strict sometimes, but I'm a very lenient mommy. I'm a very loving, sweet-heart sort of mommy. My daughter, for me personally, I think she has me wrapped around all her ten fingers. She literally knows what to do to get me going. She's my only baby. I tend to want to spoil her, but I believe kids must have manners. It's just how I was raised. Manners go a long way for me, so my daughter, she must have manners. I'm a hands-on mommy.

Renee: What would you say is your most memorable mommy moment to date?

Yanique: There's so much, like some of the things she says, she's so funny. I remember one time, she was trying to explain something to a friend. The friend was saying to her mommy, 'I want a new toy, I want a new toy' and the mommy was saying, 'no, your toy is not old, you don't need a new toy.' And my daughter out of nowhere, said, 'Yes aunty, the toy is old. The toy is like my mommy, she look young, but she old.' I was like, 'Oh my God!' (laughs).

Renee: What is your relationship status right now?

Yanique: I am single and happy. Oh God! I was in a very long relationship for about 11 years. I was engaged to be married. I think I outgrew him and that was my biggest problem. We became friends, but not really lovers or anything. I think we outgrew each other, but yeah, I'm so free now. I'm happy being single and dating. Strictly dating, no Netflix and Chill, it ain't happening (laughs).

Renee: What qualities do you look for in a partner?

Yanique: I used to have my list and what I'm looking for. Me a look fi tall, dark, handsome, to make sure he's financially stable, make sure he's smart, but a bare short man a look me. So me tear up the list. I decided that I really just want somebody that I like. Somebody that makes me laugh. I like a guy that's very humble, but him have it. So him have all of it to boast and show off, but him just ridiculously humble. I really love a guy who connects with God, and I'm going for handsome and kind. Being kind is very important you know.

Renee: Were you in a relationship with Usain Bolt?

Yanique: I felt this was coming, like 9.58. Usain is a very good friend of mine. He's a cool guy. He's a really sweet person. I can only sing him praises. So when the public come and mek it this big thing, it's just a nasty situation. Yeah, we good.

Renee: So you guys were not in a relationship?

Yanique: When is the Lord coming? When unuh can tell me that, me can tell unuh what tek place.
