Man on wounding charges remanded

A man accused of stabbing another all over his body was granted bail at $200,000 when he appeared in the Corporate Area resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Marvin Smith, a 23-year-old gasolene salesman, pleaded not guilty to the charge of wounding with intent.

The court heard that, on the day in question, Smith and the complainant were involved in a fracas. Later in the day Smith encountered the complainant and attacked him.

Reports are that the complainant was sitting on a wall in Harbour View when Smith rode up and said, "All you fi get lick inna you face." When the complainant told Smith to cease the argument, he pulled out a knife and stabbed him several times.

It is further alleged that the complainant fell to the ground and Smith continued to stab him in his mouth, eye, chest, back and knee. It is reported that Smith fled the scene after the complainant started to bleed.

Judge Simone Wolfe Reece warned Smith that he would be taken back into the custody if he violates his bail conditions, which require him to surrender his travel documents and report to the Morant Bay police between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

He is to reappear in court on May 17, 2016.
