A suspected robot-taxi operator, accused of stealing his vehicle from a police station on the night it was seized, will be tried in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on May 26.

The accused man, Kadrian Bloomfield, 24, is charged with simple larceny and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Reports are that, on February 23, 2015, about 10:30 a.m., officers attached to the Stony Hill Police Station were conducting a spot check on the Christopher main road when they saw a white 1990 Toyota Corolla sedan being driven by the accused, who was not wearing a seat belt.

They stopped the vehicle, which had nine occupants. Bloomfield was charged for operating a car as a public vehicle without the proper licence, after being warned about the practice multiple times.

The officer issued Bloomfield multiple tickets and seized the vehicle, which was taken to the Stony Hill Police Station.

Later that night, while conducting spot-check operations further along the main road, the officers noticed the same motor vehicle being driven past them. They chased the car, but Bloomfield managed to elude them.

On the night of September 7, the officers were on patrol when they found Bloomfield in Mannings Hill and served him a summons to appear in court.

When he appeared on Monday, he was told to return to court on his trial date, May 26.
