Car wash attendant shot dead in Clarendon

April 20, 2016

The Clarendon police are reporting that a 27-year-old car wash attendant was shot dead in the Raymonds area of Hayes in the parish just after 8 last night.

According to reports, Anthony Ferguson, a labourer of Raymonds, had just retired to his apartment when loud explosions were heard. Residents thereafter summons the police who found the deceased lying in a pool of blood.

The investigators are theorising that Ferguson was attacked by gunmen and who kicked down the door to his apartment before opening fire, killing him on the spot.

"So far what we know is that the deceased is a car wash attendant who worked in the area, and he was at home when he was attacked and killed," an investigator told The Star.

The investigator, who spoke to The Star on a condition of anonymity, says since the start of year, the Hayes community has seen an upsurge in violence, with scores of persons being shot and killed.
He theorised that with each new incidents, there are other incidents of reprisals to avenge past grievances.

"It will get worse before it gets better…it is an unending spiral of violence in Hayes," the cop said.
