Police investigate murder of taxi driver

The St Andrew Central police say they have launched a probe into the shooting death of a taxi operator along Hagley Park Road, in the vicinity of the St Andrew Parish Church, on Sunday night.

Dead is Lloyd Aitken of Hagley Park Road, Kingston 10.

Information reaching THE STAR is that Aitken was gunned down, execution style, by unknown assailants who pounced on him and opened fire, hitting him multiple times.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that, about 8:10 p.m., police were alerted to the scene by the sound of explosions.

On arrival of the police, Aitken's body was found slumped in the motor car.

Sources close to the investigation said persons who were in the area said they saw men running down Hagley Park Road after the shooting subsided.

Investigations are ongoing.
