Bail extended for vendor on wounding charge

A St James vendor,

who allegedly stabbed another vendor during a confrontation in 2015 had his bail extended until June 17, following his court appearance on Wednesday.

Patrick Moulton is charged before the St James Parish Court with unlawful wounding.

Allegations are that on April 11, 2015, the complainant was plying his wares at the Charles Gordon Market in Montego Bay, when Moulton approached him. An argument developed between the two, and Moulton reportedly used a knife to stab the other man in the abdomen.

The complainant fell unconscious and was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was admitted. Moulton was later arrested and charged.

In court on Wednesday, it was revealed that the case is to be reassigned because the officer who was previously working on the matter has resigned.

It was also disclosed that the prosecution has had difficulty contacting the complainant, while another witness has migrated.

Parish Judge Sandria Wong-Small subsequently extended Moulton's bail until June 17, when the matter will again be mentioned.
