Tears flow for doctor who was found dead
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a female doctor who worked at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).
According to the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Sonya-Kay Forbes was found by her relatives at her home with a stab wound to the abdomen minutes after 7 on Wednesday night.
Forbes, who was 40 years old, was an ophthalmologist at the KPH.
"There was not a dry eye everyone was crying," Errol Greene, chief executive officer of KPH said, as he described how the staff at one of the largest departments at the health facility reacted to news yesterday that Forbes was found dead in her home on Cunningham Avenue, Kingston 5.
Caring person
"She was a very hard worker. I walk the premises every morning, and she is one doctor who is always at work at 8 o'clock, very pleasant, people-centred and concerned about her patients," Greene added.
Joy Chatman, a nurse in the Ophthalmology Department, said: "She came to me first when she joined the staff. I find her to be a very pleasant and accommodating, caring person. She will go the extra mile for her patients. She has a passion for life."
Meanwhile, her Facebook timeline has been flooded with tributes from persons who were shocked by her death.
