February 07, 2025

Two men are now dead and two illegal firearms were recovered after an alleged armed confrontation with police in St Catherine on Thursday night.

Those killed are 44-year-old Everton Spike and 33-year-old Jason Spike, both carpenters of Port Henderson Road, St Catherine.

It's reported that about 7:45 p.m. a police team was on patrol along the Spanish Town Bypass when the two men were spotted in the vicinity of Okra Lane, walking towards Dela Vega City.

The men were accosted by the team but allegedly brandished guns and started firing at the police.

The fire was reportedly returned and when the shooting subsided both men were found injured.

The police say they retrieved two guns containing ammunition and four spent shells from the scene.

Both men were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched a probe into the matter.
