Doesn’t bother me that my boyfriend is poor
Dear Pastor,
I have a boyfriend and he is very kind to me. I love him very much. We do not live together, but he sleeps at my place sometimes. I do not sleep where he lives because it is not convenient for me to do so. He shares a room with his brother.
I do not want him to come and live with me unless we are married; but I am not rushing into marriage, because he has two more years in college and I have to be helping him financially. I don't mind doing so because I love him. I don't tell any of my relatives that I assist him financially because they will not agree. My parents have taught us girls not to support men, but I do like this man and I will marry him soon after he graduates.
This man does not have children. I have a car and sometimes I allow him to use it. He is a very decent man, but he is very poor. I have met men who have wealth, but I have not given them a chance in my life because I don't love them.
I am 31 years old and he is 23 years old. I asked him if he is comfortable with the fact that I am older than he is and he said that doesn't bother him.
K.T.
Dear K.T.,
If this man and you love each other and respect each other, the age difference shouldn't be a factor. When the time comes for both of you to get married, make sure that you attend premarital counselling.
