Girlfriend upset I’m dating other women

Dear Pastor,

I am 21 years old and I have a girlfriend. I love her, but sometimes I think that I should look for somebody else because she wants to control every move I make.

She thinks that I am sleeping with any girl that I talk to, but that is far from the truth. Whenever I tell her that she is talking nonsense, she says that if it was not true, I would not be so annoyed about what she is saying. I once thought that we were compatible, but all the arguments that we have is about other women.

I find that she is a time waster. I would like to find a girl who trusts me. I am not a run-around guy. I am a one-woman man. But my girlfriend says one-woman men are all dead. She believes that men don't keep one woman anymore, and that such men are either dead or in prison. I have never been to prison, and I don't intend to do anything to end up there. When I first met my girlfriend, she told me that she has never gone to prison, and I told her that neither have I.

I have dated a number of women. My girlfriend feels that I should not be dating any of them if I was satisfied by her. However, it is not because I want to run around why I date these girls. I am not dating them because I want to try them out, either. I want to be sure that the person I settle with is the right one for me.

My girlfriend doesn't like to cook, and I cannot see myself marrying someone who doesn't like to cook. My mother always tells us, as boys, that our women should know how to cook and how to keep us happy. I do not believe that my mother was wrong. I am hoping that this girl would change, because if she doesn't I am going to leave her.

I am not ready to get married as yet.

Dear D.L.,

Your girlfriend is still immature. Both of you should talk, but you should warn her that if she continues to doubt you, you will indeed move on.

If you know you have not been doing anything wrong, tell her you cannot stand the harassment and if she does not stop, you will leave her. You don't have to beg a woman. Trust is important in a relationship, and if there is no trust you should move on.
