All systems go for hurricane relief concert

It's all systems go for the Caribbean Love Now Concert, scheduled for November 22 at the Red Stripe Oval.

Marcia McDonough, a member of the organising committee for the event, told THE STAR that with just a little more than two weeks to go before the big day, all the plans are falling into place for the event.

"Everything is going great. The planning is coming along really well, and we are gearing up to come out in full force come November 22," she said, highlighting that the release of the artistes booked for the event was a signal that everything is on course.

"We have a number of entertainers booked for the event and are looking forward to a great show. If you look at the line-up, you will notice that some of the best entertainers from Jamaica are billed, and so persons can expect nothing but the best from this show."

Beenie Man, Christopher Martin, Jah Cure, Jesse Royal, Romain Virgo, Sean Paul, Chi Ching Ching, Sizzla, Tommy Lee Sparta and Third World, among others, have already been confirmed.

And with more than 20 artistes booked for the event, there were some concerns about whether or not the entertainers would be given enough time to fully engage the crowd.

NOT FEEL ROBBED

However, pointing out that the event has a capable production team, McDonough said patrons would not feel robbed of that one-on-one time, neither would they feel overwhelmed by the number of acts in one night.

"I can see how that (the number of artistes booked) would be of concern to some, but I can assure you that we have a capable production team working on the show. I don't know much about that aspect of it, but I do know that they are doing their best and everyone will get a chance to give of their best to the audience," McDonough said.

Tickets for Caribbean Love Now are on sale at caribbeanlovenow.org. General admission is $1,000, while VIP will cost $6,000. The concert will be televised and live streamed on the Reggae Sumfest YouTube channel. All proceeds and donations from the concert will go towards rebuilding efforts in the Caribbean islands devastated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
