Charly Black breaks into new territory

Having just completed his first tour of 2018, diamond-selling artiste Charly Black is counting his blessings as he continues to break into new territory as an artiste.

The entertainer just finished a 12-show, three-week stint that saw him performing for the first time in countries like New Zealand, Australia and Papua New Guinea.

In an interview with THE WEEKEND STAR following those performances, the artiste described the experience as extra special.

"It's always a great feeling travelling the world as an artiste, seeing how far it has reached, but this tour was extra special. I was shown so much love and almost all the shows were sold out, with people singing along to my brand of dancehall music," he said. "It's so far away, and to see and feel the love the people there have for my music and for Jamaica was very humbling, and I'm just grateful to God for the opportunity."

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED

Charly Black's inaugural appearance in Papua New Guinea in particular was so highly anticipated that it caused the entertainer to make the local news. In a clip that was aired earlier this month, Martin Sherry, general manager of the Cosmopolitan Club, where the entertainer was scheduled to perform, said no matter how old Black's Party Animal song gets it will always be a hit in the local clubs. That show in Port Moresby, like several others during the three-week tour, was completely sold out.

The artiste, who was in Trinidad for carnival, will return to Jamaica in the coming weeks to shoot a video for a new track he has done with popular European production duo Afro Bros. That song is scheduled to be released by Spinning Records next month.

Following that video shoot, the entertainer will embark on a month-long tour of Europe. Charly Black recently signed to Universal Music and is expected to put out his debut album later this year.
