Taylor Swift requests flower girl role at Selena Gomez’s wedding
Taylor Swift has playfully offered to be Selena Gomez's flower girl following the exciting news of her engagement to producer Benny Blanco.
The 32-year-old actress and singer announced her engagement to Benny, 36, by sharing a series of romantic photos on social media. In the post, Selena Gomez showed off her sparkling engagement ring, beamed on a cozy picnic after the proposal, and celebrated with her fiance. Captioning the post, she wrote: "Forever begins now.."
Benny joined in the light-hearted tone, commenting: "Hey wait... that's my wife."
Among the flood of congratulatory messages, Taylor Swift, 34, chimed in with a heartfelt and humorous comment: "Yes, I will be the flower girl."
The close friendship between Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift spans over a decade. The pair first connected in 2008 during a double date with Jonas Brothers stars Nick and Joe Jonas. Reflecting on their bond in a 2017 interview, Selena recalled:
"We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical. It was amazing, because [Taylor] was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked."
Selena Gomez and Benny's relationship blossomed after they met in 2019, with the couple confirming their romance in December 2023. Earlier this year, Benny hinted at his intention to marry Selena during an interview on The Howard Stern Show. He gushed, "When I look at her ... I'm always just like, I don't know a world where it could be better than this."
The Only Murders in the Building star has also opened up about her relationship, sharing that going public with Benny brought her a sense of security. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Selena Gomez explained:
"I guess this is the safest I've ever felt in one, and I see a future with this person. When you put a little bit out there, people are not as hungry to hunt you down... . But there's so much of my relationship people don't see -- that's just mine."
