D’Syanide can see ‘clearly now’
Emerging dancehall artiste D'Syanide is gunning for dancehall's top spot with his latest single, ' Clearly Now'.
The song is a prime example of thug motivation for anyone seeking to break the shackles of generational poverty.
"The feedback from Clearly Now has been fantastic. This song was basically what we as youth [face] growing up - the corruption, the brutality, the terrible poverty and the hope of a better tomorrow....just one big mix, an ongoing story which we see and experience every day in our everyday lives," he said.
The artiste grew up in the rough-and-tumble conclave called 'Bay Root' in Rose Heights, Montego Bay, St James. He attended Cambridge High School, where he began to write songs and experiment with music. After leaving high school, two of his friends suggested that he begin a career in music. His music leader, Ras Ten, who recognised his talent, christened him D'Syanide. He began to fine-tune his craft and released his first single, Brand New Man, in 2012. He continued to work on his craft, taking odd jobs in construction and using his wages to bankroll his music.
D'Syanide is now ready to propel his career to the next stratosphere, so has been spending much time in the studio finishing his debut EP. The project will be a mix of get-money tracks, inspirational gems, and adrenaline-pumping club bangers.
"I see myself as a people person, a voice of the nation as I'm representing for the people with less opportunity; the voiceless, the disenfranchised and the forgotten," he said. He hopes to collaborate with international acts in the future.
"I want to tour and see the world, that's why it is important that the music reaches the right platforms," he said.
