Various acts featured on ‘New Start’ rhythm
Thirteen acts have injected their musical talents on the 'New Start' rhythm, a project spearheaded by Switzerland-based 'Timo Don' of Lunarium Productions.
On February 26, four of the artistes performed at the soft launch of the project at Jangas Soundbar and Grill in New Kingston. The official album launch party was hosted by media personality Sanjay at Dance All Fridays in Mystic Plaza when the project was released on March 7. Kibaki, whose song is titled Migrate, said he got involved in this project through Bob Di Dancer, who is like a brother to him.
"The song's inspiration is really the struggles that I face in my community, Grants Pen. I've seen what money really does. When you have money, it powers up respect and it puts smiles on people's faces. If dem did rate you initially, it powers up more when you have money," said Kibaki. "Mi listen to the beat of the rhythm and it resonated with me, and that's the magic."
Frahcess One spoke about the inspiration behind his song on the project, Inexorable.
"As we know, 'inexorable' means 'impossible to stop or to prevent'. I've done projects for Lunarium Productions in the past and the producer was actually finished taking vocals, but he gave me the opportunity to send in mine. Working with the producer was great. He is a businessman and he has a vision that I can relate to," said Frahcess One.
Newcomer Bubahloo has also previously worked with Lunarium Productions, and described the chemistry and business relationship as a good one.
"My song is titled Everyday, and it was inspired by the daily hustle to make ends meet," he said. Sylxnce, whose contribution to the project is titled Believe, also performed at the launch. His single and accompanying music video were released two days later, and is gaining traction throughout the reggae and dancehall community. The other artistes featured are Jahmiel, Bugle, Chi Ching Ching, Lavisch, Chin Flame, Sudzman, Troydon Bent, Skill Boss and Neko Diamond.
