Gospel Spotlight: Dayle T wants to win souls with music

Dayle Thompson arms himself daily with the breasts plate of righteousness and the armour of salvation, and sets about daily on a mission to win souls for the Lord.

Thompson, who goes by the stage name Dayle T, said he feels compelled to share his passion for Christ through his music.

"I see it as my calling. I have several other stuff, but I've always been compelled to do music on a professional level. I would quit everything else and do music," Dayle T told THE WEEKEND STAR.

"I have been a Christian since I was 12. I grew up with strong Christian principles. I'm actually a trained minister from the Assemblies of God Bible College."

Dayle T began dabbling in music at the age of 15 when he got enrolled in Cole's Music School in conjunction with the Jamaica Theological Seminary. After just one year of formal training, he decided he could teach himself how to play an instrument. He started to play the guitar and then the keyboard.

Twenty years later, he continues this venture into music.

Originally from Linstead, St Catherine, Dayle T said he has always wanted to be on air.

"I've always wanted to be a radio announcer. I did try to get into media," he said.

But since 2010 Dayle T has been on air in a musical way as he has released three gospel songs, I Really Love You, Draw Me Close To You and Call On Jesus.

The success of those songs has allowed him to travel and perform in the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn last summer.

"I'll be going to Antigua in August, and maybe the US in November," he told THE WEEKEND STAR.

But Jamaica has him just as busy this summer with performances booked every weekend for this month, and other bookings already made for July.

Thompson is a member of the New Testament Church of God Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. He practices at the Old Harbour branch as a praise and worship leader and sometimes as a minister.
