Thief pleads guilty to housebreaking

August 29, 2024

A Corporate Area man, who is said to have been incarcerated previously for housebreaking and larceny, has found himself in the prisoner's dock for the same offence.

Kevin Jones is to spend another month in custody before he is sentenced in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court. It was shared by prosecutors that between August 3 and 4, the complainant returned home and noticed that several items were displaced and a window pane was removed. A laptop and tablet valued at more than $50,000 were reported missing. Jones was later apprehended and charged with housebreaking and larceny and pleaded guilty before Parish Judge Simone Walker-McFarlane on Wednesday. He was made the subject of a fingerprint order, as the judge requested sight of his antecedents.

Jones, who is diabetic, was ordered to receive medical attention and to be transferred from the current place where he is being held in custody. He was remanded in custody until October 2.
