My husband wants sex every night

Dear Pastor,

A question that I am frequently asked by the young and the old is how often a couple should engage in sexual intercourse.

My husband and I do not have any specified time, but if I allow him to have his way, he would do so every night, and multiple times per night. So please help to solve this problem for us.

How often should we have sex? I am in my early 30s and my husband is in his late 40s. What would you suggest?

Dear K.T.,

People always believe that men are the aggressors when it comes to sex and I suppose that might be so, generally. But there are women who are very aggressive and demand sex from their husbands every night.

I counselled a couple some years ago and the gentleman told me, in the presence of his wife, that she does not give him a break at all. She demands sex from him every night. He constantly has to remind her that he was getting old. However, she didn't care, she would run him down around the house for it, and they have destroyed their furniture in their home because she wanted sex from him.

Another couple told me that his wife would not sleep unless he had sex with her. The only time she would fall asleep is after he had sex with her and she is fully satisfied.

I don't know if such persons are women who are considered to have 'white liver'. I do know, however, that in the Bible, nothing is said about how frequent a couple should have sex. What it does say in the Bible is that it should be done often, and by doing so a couple would prevent one another from going astray, or from looking outside the marriage union for someone who could help him satisfy his sexual needs.

Psychologists say that most people enjoy sex three or four times per week, but there are those who do so every night. It is routine to them, so the couple should do whatever pleases them.
