Husband and I are having the best retirement
Dear Pastor,
I am a 64-year-old woman and my husband is 66. Both of us are retired and we are enjoying our retirement.
We have worked very hard. We have tried to save what we can. My husband says I am a better saver than him. We have our own home and we have tried not to owe anybody. Our children know that they should not rely on us for anything, and they should not depend on us to take care of their children. It is their responsibility to support their children.
Last year, we were able to go on a trip. It was something that we had been planning to do for many years. If we had not planned it, we would not have been able to go on this tour. We met many people in our age group and we made very good friends. While we were on the trip, we thought about maintaining the pleasure of our golden years. We even took time to forgive each other for neglecting each other in our younger days. My husband was always so busy making money and sometimes I felt neglected. I do not feel like that any more.
We would like to plan another trip before we get into our 70s.

Dear ....,
I have a friend who recently went with his wife on a cruise; both of them are in their 80s.
I saw pictures of them dancing on the ship and really having a good time. Some couples are able to go on these cruises early in their relationships, while others are not. The important thing is that whenever it can be done, it should be done.
One has to always bear in mind that life is indeed very short and it should be enjoyed.
