The breadbasket of Jamaica was ignited last Friday as the Guinness Sound of Greatness (GSOG) competition made its way to St Elizabeth and transformed the SDC Centre in Santa Cruz into a musical battlefield.

GSOG lived up to the expectations set in the previous week, which saw the sole female in the competition, DJ Naz, advancing to the next round after being crowned champion in Buckfield, Ocho Rios, St Ann.

With judges Notnice and Bishop Escobar joined by special guest judge Hotta Rice, battling sounds had no choice but to step up and prove their greatness.

Throwing their gloves into the ring were Shadrock Sound, Black City Sound, King Tafari Sound, and Twin Tower Sound - all battling it out for a chance to claim a spot in the June 28 finals.

As the battle began, Shadrock Sound made its presence known as they gave the crowd hits after hits.

Following was Twin Tower Sound, which ensured they weren't outdone when they drew for classic dancehall-reggae.

The last sound to prove that they were made of more was King Tafari, who annihilated the competition in the juggling round and gave the crowd a massive performance.

The energy lifted when host Badda Bling announced the top two sounds for the night; it would be Shadrock Sound versus King Tafari.

Maintaining the energy, dancehall artiste Jah Vinci took patrons on a throwback vibe, performing his hit singles like Remedy and Mi Know, riling up the crowd as they knocked their pot covers and got into his performance.

After battling it out in the juggling, challenge and dub-fi-dub segments, Shadrock Sound was declared the champion and moves on to the finals.

GSOG continues this Friday in Linstead, St Catherine, and will feature Wallstreet Sounds, DJ Mental, Real Money, Dunrich Sound, and feature guest judge DJ Sunshine, with performance by Teejay.
