Old boyfriend demanding that I get pregnant

Dear Pastor,

I am writing you because I have a problem. I am 36 years old and I have been living with a man for seven years.

We do not have children together, but he has three outside children. He is a businessman. I have my own house, but I have rented it out and I have moved in with him. I do not depend on him for anything. I can say that I am living with him for free, because I do not have to pay rent. I try my best to see that everything goes right. I like to cook, so I cook and we enjoy our meals together. His children are with their mothers, but they come to see us every week. They are respectful to me.

Although I am much younger than he is, he wants me to agree to have a child with him, but I am not interested. Why should I have a child for a man who already has three? Looking at him, you would not believe his age; he is 62 years old. He is athletic. He takes care of himself. He is involved in sports, so he goes out every weekend to play tennis, and he even plays football with younger men. He has warned me that if I do not agree to have a child with him, he will leave me and go with a young woman. I asked him if he would really do so and he said yes.

I have never cheated on him and I don't intend to do so. But I know that I will not have a child for him. He said we should have a child because what he has now will go to his children and if we have a child together, that child will get what we have earned together. I cannot see myself changing nappies at my age. I believe that this man wants to get me pregnant to tie me down and I don't want to be tied down by any man.

What do you suggest that I do?

Dear W.H.,

If you know you do not intend to have a child with this man and you have told him so and he is still insisting, he may find another woman who would agree to have a child by him.

He may then tell you to leave his house because he has a new babymother, so to speak. Therefore, what I am suggesting is that you give him notice that you are going to leave his house. Don't wait until he tells you to go.
