My babyfather does not give gifts for Christmas

December 02, 2024

Dear Pastor,

I am 24 years old and I have two children for a man. He is working, but he does not believe in Christmas.

I told him that even if he does not believe in the 'blue-eyed' Jesus, he should buy gifts for the children because they see other children with new things and they will feel left out. Everything is left on me for Christmas. My daughter's godmother is a Christian and she buys nice gifts for her. Last year I bought a doll for my daughter and her father destroyed it and said the doll represented 'white Mary'.

I am not asking anybody for anything, because they attend Sunday school and the church will give them gifts. I don't know what to do with this man. He is not a bad man, but he doesn't give gifts. He has never given me a Valentine's Day gift. I buy gifts for him and he loves them, but he is selfish. I buy gifts for his parents and invite them for dinner and pretend that the gifts are from the both of us, but not one cent came from his pocket.

All he wants for Christmas is fish and he is a happy man. What do you think about him?

T.E.

Dear T.E.,

Some people don't believe in exchanging gifts for Christmas. The have their reasons.

Stop fighting your man over that. Spend your money on gifts; you will not die from doing so. Many people do not observe Christmas, so why should they purchase and exchange gifts? Don't try to change this man.
