Four men are in police custody after they were chased by lawmen and allegedly held with a firearm in Cherry Tree Lane, Clarendon, where eight people were killed on Sunday night.

The four men were reportedly signalled to stop by the lawmen but disobeyed.

As the men tried to escape one of them allegedly threw away a black bag he was wearing. The bag was searched and the firearm allegedly found.

All four men were accosted.

"The joint military patrol are both on foot and vehicles. Sometimes we say some things and people will say we are crazy and see this has happened right before our eyes. The police and soldiers are in the space. It is just unbelievable," said head of the Clarendon Police Division's Safety and Security Branch, Deputy Superintendent Owen Brown.
