Two women were victims of an acid attack at the Pavilion Mall, in Half-Way Tree yesterday afternoon.

One alleged eyewitness who works at the shopping mall told THE STAR that shortly after midday, two men rode into the mall's parking lot on a black motorbike. Shortly after, they proceeded to the second floor of the mall to a store.

"Mi see dem ride in, enuh, one a dem did have on a mask. Den dem come up here and guh inna di store and di next thing mi hear a some loud scream," the eyewitness said, adding that both women were badly injured and rushed to the hospital.

"Dem bun up bad. One a dem it looks like a half a face gone because a black acid dem throw pan dem," the eyewitness said. The person also told THE STAR that a security officer at the mall managed to fire a few shots at the attackers but no one was injured.

Dennis Brooks, senior communications strategist in the Jamaica Constabulary Force said the men were wearing yellow reflective vests. He also said the women were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital after receiving injuries to their arms and backs.

Another alleged eyewitness, who also works in the mall and knows one of the victims, told the news team that she was severely shocked by the horrific attack.

"Is a nice young girl, like mi cah believe dem duh dis to [her]. Is a girl weh eva laugh wid mi and she treat people good. She never deserve dis," the person said.
